Amidst the bustling capital of Hanoi, lies a legendary lake, renowned for its captivating tale and its indelible place in Vietnamese history. Known as Ho Guom, or Lake of the Returned Sword, its origins are shrouded in a shimmering haze of myth and valor.
Legend whispers of Le Loi, a valiant peasant leader who, upon defeating the invading Ming Dynasty, was bestowed upon a magical sword by the Golden Turtle God. With this divine weapon in hand, he led his people to victory and established the Le Dynasty. However, after the war had subsided, the Golden Turtle returned to Ho Guom and requested the sword’s return. Le Loi, honoring the pact, ascended into a boat and cast the sacred blade into the depths, where it vanished beneath the shimmering surface. Since that day, Ho Guom has become a symbol of Vietnamese independence and a testament to the unyielding spirit that resides within the heart of its people.
